AARP 2020 Vision Forum to Gather Leaders in Housing and Development

Looking ahead at the housing decisions facing millions for baby boomers as they reach traditional retirement age, AARP, the 36 million member advocacy organization dedicated to people aged 50-plus, will visit Las Vegas to host "Building for Boomers: Community and Home." The high-level 90-minute forum will bring together the most renowned experts and thinkers in their fields to give their views on topics such as "aging in place," boomer's online networking, and "smart" homes and towns that cater to older residents. It will ask provocative questions about the role of technology in maintaining family and community ties, as well as explore how people migrate as they age and the implications for cities and towns as they face changing demographics. The forum aims to spark debate with key community stakeholders on the steps builders and urban planners are taking to prepare for boomer demands.

"Building for Boomers: Community and Home" is the third event in AARP's 2020 Vision series of national forums, which offer a glimpse into the Boomer future through the eyes of the experts. Previous forums, on the workplace and health care held in New York and Houston, respectively, attracted capacity audiences and headline news.
